Errors and Omissions

Errors and omissions insurance, also known as E&O insurance and professional liability insurance, helps protect you.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas requires producers who contract with us directly to carry E&O insurance.

Required for All Producers

Under our Standard Producer Agreement, a minimum of $500,000 of aggregate errors and omissions insurance (E&O) coverage is required for all producers who sell our products. An E&O insurance policy helps protect you and your business from financial problems should you ever face litigation. It is also required for all writing producers (also called subproducers), as outlined in the agreement.
 

Providing Proof During Contracting or Onboarding Process

During the electronic contracting or onboarding process, producers are required to submit proof of E&O coverage by uploading a copy of their E&O declaration page.

Producers without E&O coverage may upload a signed letter they have applied for E&O coverage and will upload or submit their E&O declaration to us within the next 60 days. If a producer applied for E&O coverage but has not received the final policy and therefore can't supply an E&O declaration, a producer can upload E&O application information instead.
 

Checking Your Coverage Status

To make sure the E&O coverage we have for you is active and up-to-date, follow these steps:

  • Inicie sesión  to your Blue Access for Producers℠ account.
  • Click on the My Info icon on the left side of the page if you are in laptop mode. If you're using a phone, the My Info icon is at the top of the page.
  • On the My Info screen, there is a Your Information section. You may see several other sections depending on your role. These may include Other Contacts, Credentials and Errors & Omissions. The Errors & Omissions section only appears if your E&O policy is active. You can click the arrow/triangle icon in the Errors & Omissions section to display the name of the E&O carrier, the policy number and the active policy status.
  • If no Errors & Omissions section appears on the My Info screen, the E&O insurance information we have for you has expired. 
     

Uploading a New E&O Policy Declaration

Here are the steps on how to upload a new E&O Certificate of Coverage.

  • Make sure you have a digital copy of your E&O declaration.
  • Log in to your your account.
  • Click on the Producer Services link at the top of the page if you are in laptop mode. If you're using a phone, click on the hamburger icon and select Producer Services.
  • In the Request Assistance section of the page, select Update my E&O Coverage.
  • Enter all necessary information. 
  • For the Errors & Omissions Declaration upload, navigate to your digital file and select it. 
  • Click Submit.
  • You will receive a Success notice and a ticket confirmation number. 
     

Buying an Errors & Omissions Policy

If your policy lapses, and you need new coverage, we offer E&O coverage at affordable rates through our partner, BCS Insurance. Get an E&O coverage quote from BCS.

You can also purchase new E&O coverage from your producer account:

  • Log in to your your account.
  • Click on the Producer Services link at the top if you are in laptop mode. If you are using a phone, click on the hamburger icon and select Producer Services.
  • In the Request Assistance section of the page, select Update my E&O Coverage.
  • Navigate to the Purchase New Coverage link and follow the prompts.
     

Expired E&O Coverage - What Happens Next

If you don't submit a new declaration page from your new E&O policy thirty days after your coverage expires, we may begin termination steps. We will attempt to reach out to you via the email address on file. If you are not receiving messages from us, check your contact information in your account. If you need to update your physical or email address, follow these steps:

  • In the Change Contact Information section of the page, select Edit.
  • Update contact information and slick Submit.
